Process Engineer

About the role

ABB is seeking a Process Engineer for its Installation Products Caribe LLC in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will optimize assembly methods, processes, and equipment to reduce labor hours while meeting quality, efficiency, cost, and safety targets.

Key responsibilities

• Define the working phase sequence of new production processes to achieve targeted product cost and equipment investment budgets.
• Ensure appropriate production methods, cycle‑time, equipment performance, and material usage support production targets.
• Identify improvement opportunities and lead projects, adhering to timeframes, quality, and cost requirements.
• Approve internal or external process designs and conduct final testing against project specifications.
• Support production during start‑up, create action plans, and train maintenance and production teams.
• Evaluate new process technologies, lead testing activities, set approval criteria, and select external providers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing or quality environments.
• Experience with injection molding or stamping operations preferred.
• Familiarity with equipment automation.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills using FMEA, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English.
• Computer literate and committed to safety and integrity.
