Process Control Lead Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Process Control Lead Engineer to drive reliable and efficient control solutions for our offshore production assets. The role focuses on analysing real‑time controller data, identifying performance gaps and implementing optimisation strategies that enhance safety and availability.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse real‑time process controller data from offshore assets to spot gaps and recommend control strategies.
• Measure controller performance fleet‑wide using statistical monitoring tools and address “bad actor” controllers.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for control system issues both remotely and during offshore visits.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and process engineering teams to embed best practices and continuous improvement.
• Provide guidance and training to offshore personnel on control system operation and troubleshooting.
• Review new FPSO process control schemes, ensuring operability, safety and compliance.
• Support development of real‑time process simulation models for training and optimisation.
• Supervise specialised vendors to ensure quality execution and capture lessons learned.

Required profile

• Engineering diploma in a relevant discipline.
• 10‑15 years of experience in oil & gas upstream or mid‑stream process facilities, including commissioning and integration of control systems.
• Proven track record in process/control troubleshooting in an oil production environment.
• Experience working offshore or with offshore assets is advantageous.

Required skills

• Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS).
• Familiarity with Siemens PCS7 (plus).
• Advanced Process Control (APC) – MPC/DMC, PID tuning and process optimisation techniques.
• Multivariable and nonlinear control methods.
• Statistical monitoring tools for KPI tracking.
• Root‑cause analysis and real‑time process simulation modelling.
