Portuguese as 2nd Language Teacher

About the role

St. Peter's International School, part of the Inspired Education network, is looking for an enthusiastic Portuguese as 2nd Language Teacher. You will deliver engaging lessons to native‑speaker students, fostering a deep appreciation of Portuguese literature, grammar, and culture while supporting their academic success in an international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality Portuguese lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress, providing constructive feedback.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom that encourages participation and respect.
• Collaborate with the languages department to develop resources, schemes of work and innovative teaching strategies.
• Participate in staff meetings, parent‑teacher conferences and school‑wide events.
• Provide pastoral care, acting as a mentor and role model for students.

Required profile

• University degree in Portuguese Studies, Modern Languages, Education or a related field.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Habilitação Profissional para a Docência).
• Proven experience teaching Portuguese to native speakers, preferably in an international school.
• Native or near‑native fluency in Portuguese; strong working knowledge of English.
