Outpatient Registered Nurse – RN

About the role

The Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) works within the hemodialysis team to deliver high‑quality patient care in an outpatient setting, following FMCNA policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and supervise Patient Care Technicians, LVNs/LPNs, and Dialysis Assistants in delivering chronic hemodialysis therapy.
• Assess patient needs, develop care assignments, and monitor staff techniques for compliance with policies.
• Provide patient and family education on ESRD, dialysis, diet, fluid, medication compliance, and transplant/modality awareness.
• Implement and adjust treatment prescriptions, monitor patient responses, and communicate issues to the Team Leader or physician.
• Perform nursing assessments, document care, and participate in quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Current RN licensure and experience in outpatient hemodialysis.
• Ability to supervise staff, conduct patient education, and document accurately.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and corporate regulations governing dialysis care.

Required skills

• Operation of dialysis equipment and monitoring of treatment parameters.
• Medication administration, including PRN and emergency drugs.
• CPR and emergency response procedures.
• Lab order entry and specimen handling in a Medical Information System.
• Accurate documentation and patient record management.
