Observability Engineer

About the role

Farfetch is looking for an Observability Engineer to join its Tech Platform team in Porto. You will help design, build, and maintain the core telemetry ecosystem that powers reliable, scalable analysis, detection, and investigation across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement robust observability infrastructure with a focus on scalability, high availability, and performance.
• Manage data pipelines and storage for logs, metrics, traces, profiling, and RUM using OpenTelemetry, Fluentbit, and the Victoria ecosystem.
• Develop self‑service capabilities that enable engineering teams and business units to conduct autonomous analysis and incident investigation.
• Monitor and maintain the internal observability stack, ensuring tools such as Grafana and various exporters remain reliable.
• Integrate observability frameworks (audit, logging, monitoring) into the broader platform architecture.
• Participate in technical discussions, share knowledge, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

Required profile

• Practical experience or strong foundational understanding of building, supporting, or maintaining observability tools and distributed systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior engineers and cross‑functional teams.
• Commitment to high standards of reliability, performance, and security in telemetry systems.
