Mobile Software Architect (iOS)

About the role

Air Apps, a family-founded company building an AI-powered Personal & Entrepreneurial Resource Planner, is hiring a Mobile Software Architect for a fully onsite position at its Lisbon office. You will lead the design of scalable, performant mobile architecture for the company's app suite, primarily iOS, working closely with product, design and engineering teams. Relocation support is available.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the mobile architecture strategy, focusing on iOS architecture, libraries and platform patterns, with Android knowledge a plus
• Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers so architectural decisions fit product goals and user experience
• Set coding standards, design patterns and performance guidelines, and lead architectural reviews and refactoring guidance
• Design reusable APIs, SDKs and modular components, and guide choices on third-party libraries, tooling and build/deployment pipelines
• Partner with backend and cloud teams on mobile-app integration, and mentor mobile engineers

Required profile

• Around 6+ years of mobile development experience with a strong architectural mindset
• Deep iOS expertise in Swift (Objective-C a plus); Android (Kotlin/Java) familiarity is a strong plus
• Experience with API integration, data storage, caching, background tasks, App Store submission, mobile security and compliance
• Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks and deployment automation
• Strong communication skills and a passion for clean code and scalable architecture

Required skills

• App performance optimization, modularization and offline-first approaches
• Design patterns such as MVVM and VIPER
