Mobile Software Architect (iOS)

About the role

Air Apps, a Lisbon-founded company building an AI-powered personal and entrepreneurial resource planner, is looking for a Mobile Software Architect. You will lead the design of scalable, performant mobile architecture for its suite of apps, mainly iOS, with cross-functional knowledge of Android considered a plus. The role is strategic and technical leadership, working with product, design and engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the mobile architecture strategy, focusing on iOS architecture, libraries and platform patterns, while keeping Android frameworks in mind
• Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers so architectural decisions fit product goals and user experience
• Set coding standards, design patterns and performance guidelines
• Lead architectural reviews and guide refactoring and scaling of existing mobile apps
• Design APIs, SDKs and reusable modular components
• Advise on third-party libraries, mobile tooling and build/deployment pipelines
• Partner with backend and cloud teams on mobile-app integration
• Mentor mobile engineers and stay current on mobile architecture, performance and security trends

Required profile

• Around 6+ years of mobile development experience with a strong architectural mindset
• Deep expertise in iOS development with Swift (Objective-C is a plus)
• Experience with app performance optimization, modularization and offline-first strategies
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain architecture to technical and non-technical colleagues

Required skills

• UIKit, SwiftUI, Combine and other modern iOS frameworks
• API integration, mobile data storage, caching and background tasks
• App Store submission, mobile security and compliance
• Mobile CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks and deployment automation
• Android (Kotlin/Java) is a strong plus
