Mechanical Product Designer (R&D) – Amarante

About the role

Fischer Connectors is seeking a Mechanical Product Designer to join its R&D department in Amarante. You will be responsible for sustaining existing connectivity products, supporting standardisation and digitalisation initiatives, and contributing to the design of new solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and improve product quality by applying international standards and internal engineering tools.
• Participate in the design of new or enhanced products, including functional analysis, CAD modelling, drawings, test plans and assembly instructions.
• Manage engineering changes throughout the Product Development Process.
• Collaborate closely with tooling, process, manufacturing and quality teams to produce complete product documentation.
• Support prototype testing and qualification activities.

Required profile

• Technical or engineering education in mechanics, micro‑technology or a related field.
• Proven experience in product development for electrical connectivity.
• Strong organisational skills, methodical approach and attention to detail.
• Fluent English (minimum B2 level) and ability to work both independently and in a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software – preferably CREO.
• Experience using PLM systems such as WINDCHILL.
• Familiarity with ERP platforms, especially SAP.
• Knowledge of drawing standards, dimensioning & tolerancing.
• Understanding of manufacturing, machining processes, materials and coatings.
