Mechanical Design Engineer Internship (Extracurricular)

About the role

Join Bosch's Ovar site as an extracurricular intern and contribute to the mechanical design of sensors for complex fire‑detection systems. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, following a product from concept through development, production launch and end‑of‑life.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical solutions for plastic and sheet‑metal components using CREO.
• Maintain product data in the PDM system (SAP) and ensure proper version control.
• Perform tolerance analysis, simulations and reliability testing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to validate designs against safety and performance criteria.
• Document design decisions and support the transition to series production.

Required profile

• Academic degree in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics or a related technical field.
• Strong knowledge of plastic part design and, preferably, sheet‑metal design and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with CREO and PDMLink (or comparable CAD/PDM tools).
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret statistical tolerance data and field test results.
• Proactive, structured approach to problem‑solving and quality assurance.
