About the role

The Early Head Start program in Ponce is seeking an itinerant infant teacher to provide high‑quality instruction and care for babies and toddlers across multiple classrooms. This full‑time, non‑exempt position reports to the Center Manager and offers a supportive environment for professional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Substitute for teachers in various classroom settings according to program needs.
• Promote social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and linguistic development of infants and toddlers.
• Encourage active parent participation in all Early Head Start services.
• Maintain a safe, supervised, and enriching classroom and outdoor play environment.
• Develop individualized goals, conduct continuous assessments, and facilitate transitions to Head Start or other preschool programs.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and local, state, and agency policies.
• Complete a professional development plan that may include post‑secondary credentials.

• Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet program objectives.

Required skills

• Proficiency with basic office procedures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
