Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor – Readjustment

About the role

The Veterans Health Administration seeks a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor to provide readjustment counseling to veterans. The role involves comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of evidence‑based mental health services, including Telehealth.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual, group, or family counseling interventions, including Telehealth services.
• Document clinical notes accurately and maintain data management systems.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship (or eligible non‑citizen) and a full, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor.
• Master’s or doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related CACREP‑accredited field.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English as required by VA regulations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the DSM for diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Competence with electronic health record software and Telehealth platforms.
• Ability to deliver culturally competent counseling across diverse populations.
