Legal Counsel – Spanish Speaking

About the role

GoCardless is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel with 5‑6 years of post‑qualification experience to support its UK operations. The role combines legal advisory work with close collaboration across Partner, Go‑to‑Market and other business teams, ensuring commercial and contractual matters are handled efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and negotiate strategic partner agreements and high‑value Go‑to‑Market deals.
• Review, draft and negotiate customer, partnership and supplier contracts, providing pragmatic commercial input.
• Support strategic projects and rollout of new templates or product launches.
• Supervise junior lawyers on negotiations and specific files.
• Manage external counsel and build self‑help tools, playbooks and guides for the legal team.
• Drive process improvement for high‑volume contracting, including automation of workflows.
• Address any legal issue that arises, at any time.

Required profile

• 5‑6 years PQE, with private‑practice training and/or in‑house experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts with sophisticated counterparties.
• Experience reviewing marketing materials for legal compliance.
• Strong commercial mindset and ability to work independently while collaborating closely with business teams.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating legal language into clear English.
