Legal & Compliance Specialist

About the role

You will join the multidisciplinary Legal, Compliance and Data Protection team supporting Volkswagen Group Digital Solutions Portugal. The role combines commercial contract work, corporate governance support and privacy advice across a range of business activities.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and other legal documentation.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal advice to business and corporate functions.
• Support contract lifecycle activities, including amendments, renewals and template development.
• Assist with corporate governance matters and maintain corporate documentation.
• Liaise with external counsel when required and monitor legal and regulatory developments.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Compliance Management System in line with Volkswagen Group requirements.
• Develop, review and implement internal policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments, third‑party due‑diligence and support anti‑corruption, conflicts of interest and ethics advice.
• Deliver compliance training and reporting, and respond to Group compliance requests.
• Provide GDPR and privacy advice, draft Data Processing Agreements, conduct DPIAs and manage data‑subject requests and incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in‑house or law‑firm exposure to commercial law, compliance and data protection.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Strong analytical judgement, organisational ability and proactive, solution‑oriented approach.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• High integrity, attention to detail and risk awareness.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of commercial contracts, GDPR and compliance frameworks.
• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Ability to conduct compliance risk assessments and DPIAs.
• Interest in emerging technology regulation, including artificial intelligence.
