Legal Associate – Contract Review (Government Procurement)

About the role

The Legal Senior Associate for the Contract Review Unit will support the Senior Counsel in overseeing government contracts under PROMESA. The role involves ensuring fiscal compliance, market competition, and transparent procurement processes while advising high‑level government officials.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation and identify agencies with the largest contracting activity.
• Conduct legal research on procurement issues and provide prompt counsel to agencies throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Participate in procurement planning sessions, monitor RFP/RFQ/RFI processes, and recommend improvements to the procurement cycle.
• Develop legal opinions, memoranda, and risk‑management advice for senior officials.
• Interact and negotiate with regulators, government officials, and external consultants as needed.

Required profile

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and a current license to practice law.
• 1–2 years of experience in proposal development, negotiations, contract performance, and dispute resolution for government contracts.
• Strong knowledge of administrative, corporate, and governmental law, with proven legal counsel experience in a business environment.
• Experience supervising associates or senior associates is preferred.
