Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank is seeking a Lawyer specialised in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. You will work on high‑profile litigation before the Court of Justice of the EU and provide legal advice on a range of EU‑related matters affecting the Bank.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Provide legal opinions and notes on complex institutional, EU‑law and staff‑related issues.
• Conduct legal research and studies across the division’s areas of responsibility.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work and maintain contacts with internal and external counterparts.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legal developments and proactively share insights.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum Bachelor, preferably Master’s level); Master’s in EU law and bar qualification are strong assets.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in EU institutions, international law firms or with EU litigation experience.
• Deep knowledge of EU law and familiarity with the EIB’s policies and procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard computer tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Familiarity with legal research databases.
