Labour Law Counsel

About the role

The Labour Law Counsel will work closely with the Senior Labour Law Counsel to provide day‑to‑day legal assistance to the Human Resources department and business units. This role focuses on Portuguese labour law and supports the bank’s HR operations across Portugal.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support to HR on Portuguese labour law matters.
• Review, draft and amend labour contracts, addenda and related HR documentation.
• Prepare, review and update internal regulations and policies as required.
• Draft legal opinions, studies, reports and correspondence.
• Participate in meetings with Workers’ Councils and trade unions.
• Accompany HR Business Partners in individual employee meetings.
• Analyse claims and grievances and prepare disciplinary documentation when needed.

Required profile

• Law degree from a Portuguese university.
• Admission to the Portuguese Bar Association.
• 4–7 years of experience in Portuguese labour law.
• Fluency in English.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience advising on labour‑law matters, including litigation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to achieve results in conflicting‑interest situations.
• Team‑oriented, solution‑driven attitude with high work ethics.
