Junior Accountant

About the role

The Junior Accountant will support daily accounting and tax operations for Costaterra Golf & Ocean Club, a luxury residential community in Comporta, Portugal. Working under senior staff, you will help ensure accurate transaction recording, compliance with Portuguese GAAP, and timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries for invoices, accounts payable/receivable, and expense documents in line with SNC (Portuguese GAAP).
• Review invoices for tax and VAT compliance.
• Perform bank reconciliations and sub‑ledger reviews for vendors, customers and other partners.
• Assist with month‑end, quarterly and year‑end closing procedures, providing data and documentation for financial statements and audits.
• Organise, digitise and archive bookkeeping and financial documents.
• Support other administrative tasks required by the finance department.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field (studies ongoing or completed).
• 0‑2 years of accounting experience or relevant internship.
• High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a proactive attitude.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of Portuguese Accounting Standards (SNC/NCRF).
• Understanding of VAT, Corporate Income Tax (IRC) and withholding taxes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
• Ability to learn and use ERP/accounting platforms such as Primavera/Cegid, Sage X3 or SAP.
