IT Application Support Engineer – Windows (L2/L3)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced IT Application Support Engineer to provide advanced L2/L3 support for Windows‑based production systems. You will work in a hybrid environment in Portugal, collaborating with development, infrastructure and product teams to ensure high availability and performance of our applications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 application support for Windows Server and IIS environments.
• Investigate and resolve incidents, performing root‑cause analysis using Zabbix, Grafana and log analysis tools.
• Manage critical incidents end‑to‑end and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.
• Monitor application health across Windows and hybrid Windows/Linux platforms.
• Configure and optimise web and application servers (IIS, Apache, HAProxy).
• Develop and maintain automation scripts with PowerShell, Python and Bash.
• Support integrations such as Axway API Gateway and maintain operational documentation.
• Handle incidents and requests via ServiceNow and Jira.
• Oversee job scheduling with Control‑M and contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Bitbucket, XLDeploy and XLRelease.
• Work with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS, GCP) and infrastructure‑as‑code tools like Terraform and OpenShift.
• Ensure effective shift handover in a global support environment and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in application support or similar role.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to perform root‑cause analysis.
• Proactive attitude, good communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience working in hybrid or multi‑site environments.
