Internal Audit Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced internal audit professional to lead complex, international assignments within our global organisation. Based in Lisbon, you will work across a diverse business, gaining significant exposure to senior stakeholders and high‑impact audits across multiple markets, functions and risk areas.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex, end‑to‑end audits across international operations, covering financial, operational and compliance risks.
• Own audit planning, scoping, fieldwork, reporting and follow‑up activities.
• Identify key business risks and control weaknesses and translate findings into practical, commercially focused recommendations.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and present audit findings and recommendations to management.
• Collaborate with teams across multiple countries and functions to strengthen governance, risk management and internal control frameworks.
• Leverage data analytics and digital tools to enhance audit quality, efficiency and insight.
• Contribute to the development of audit methodologies, tools and best practices.
• Support, coach and review the work of less experienced audit team members.

Required profile

• Significant internal audit, external audit, finance or risk experience, preferably in a large, complex or multinational organisation.
• Proven ability to lead audits independently from planning through to final reporting.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, risk management and governance.
• Demonstrated experience engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders across functions and geographies.
• Degree in finance, accounting, business or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CIA or CISA strongly preferred; Big 4 experience advantageous.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to, and occasionally over, 50 % of the time.
• Fluency in English is essential.
