Insert Technician I

About the role

The Insert Technician I fabricates high‑precision inserts, supports set‑up, inspects fixtures and performs assembly operations following Cooper Vision procedures. The role ensures production priorities are met while maintaining exceptional quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform 100% inspection of work at assigned manufacturing stages and ensure calibration of all metrology equipment.
• Set up and operate the Optoform lathe, laser marking system, interferometers, radioscopes and EDM machines to produce inserts within sub‑10 micron tolerances.
• Enter design specifications and production data into the batch control system for traceability.
• Maintain insert shop equipment, uphold cleanliness, and support equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Continuously identify and communicate process improvements and participate in required training.

Required profile

• Technical school graduate or associate degree in Tool & Die Making or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a high‑technology engineering environment, preferably in medical devices or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Knowledge of FDA GMP/QSR regulations and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Operation and validation of Optoform lathe and fast‑tool servo.
• Use of precision measurement tools: micrometer, caliper, profile projector, edge finder, height gauge, toolmaker microscope.
• Proficiency with interferometers (Fisba), radioscopes, shadowgraph equipment, and laser etching systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
