Indirect Tax Expert – VAT Specialist

About the role

Webasto is looking for an Indirect Tax Expert to join its Group Tax function. You will be the go‑to authority on VAT and other indirect taxes, ensuring compliance across the company’s global operations while supporting business transformation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the recognised subject‑matter expert for VAT and indirect taxes within the Group.
• Assess and resolve complex indirect tax issues, including cross‑border supplies, supply‑chain structures and business transactions.
• Provide advisory support to Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Sales, Procurement and IT on tax matters.
• Ensure correct tax treatment in ERP systems (SAP), reviewing tax determination logic and master data.
• Support VAT compliance processes such as returns, reconciliations, audits and tax authority inquiries.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of group‑wide tax policies, guidelines and internal controls.
• Participate in restructuring, new‑business‑model and ERP‑implementation projects from a tax perspective.
• Coordinate external advisors and assist local tax/finance teams with technical VAT questions.
• Identify tax risks and propose pragmatic mitigation solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Management or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in indirect taxes/VAT, preferably in a multinational group tax function or a reputable tax advisory firm.
• Strong knowledge of EU and international VAT law, including complex transactional and supply‑chain topics.
• Good understanding of end‑to‑end business processes and their tax implications.
• Experience with ERP systems (ideally SAP) and indirect tax process design.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Fluent English; German or additional languages are a plus.
