Head of Mathematics

About the role

The Head of Mathematics will lead the department across Middle and Senior schools, driving academic excellence and data‑driven progression in a premium international school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Mathematics department, setting a clear vision for excellence across all year groups.
• Design and deliver engaging Mathematics lessons aligned with Cambridge International (IGCSE/A‑Levels) and IB Diploma frameworks.
• Line‑manage and mentor department staff, conduct lesson observations and support continuous professional development.
• Analyse student tracking data, identify under‑performance and implement effective intervention plans.
• Oversee curriculum planning to ensure seamless progression across Middle and Senior schools.
• Manage department budget, resources and digital learning platforms.
• Prepare students for external examinations, aiming for top‑tier results.
• Promote STEM through extra‑curricular activities, competitions and cross‑curricular initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics or a related STEM field and a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
• Significant experience teaching Mathematics in a British International or IB school, including IGCSE, A‑Level and/or IBDP.
• Previous middle‑leadership experience such as Head of Department or Key Stage Coordinator is highly desirable.
• Native or near‑native fluency in English.
• Strong inspirational leadership, communication and intercultural skills for an international community.
