Head of Humanities – History Specialist

About the role

Inspired Education is seeking a Head of Humanities with a specialism in History to lead its Humanities Department. The role combines strategic leadership, curriculum development and high‑quality teaching across History, Geography, Business, Economics and Global Perspectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Humanities faculty in designing and delivering an innovative curriculum from Key Stage 3 to the IB Diploma Programme.
• Teach History at IGCSE and IB Diploma levels, emphasizing critical thinking, source analysis and the connection between global and local contexts.
• Monitor teaching standards through lesson observations, work scrutinies and analysis of external examination results.
• Manage, mentor and develop a team of subject specialists, fostering a collaborative culture.
• Oversee student progress tracking and implement interventions to support every learner.
• Administer the department budget, resources and integration of educational technology.
• Lead or support co‑curricular activities such as Model United Nations, History clubs and field trips.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History (or related field) with a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
• 3–5 years of teaching experience, including proven success teaching History at IGCSE and IB Diploma (Higher Level preferred).
• Previous leadership or department‑head experience in an international school setting.
