GL Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our finance team in Porto. The role will be responsible for the end‑to‑end monthly close, consolidation reporting and ensuring the integrity of the general ledger across multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform monthly close activities, prepare and post journal entries, and ensure accurate financial statements.
• Conduct balance‑sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and support consolidation reporting (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Maintain the general ledger in line with IFRS and group policies, including complex intercompany, provision and lease accounting.
• Review and validate entries from sub‑ledgers (AP/AR) and keep the chart of accounts correctly mapped.
• Manage intercompany transactions, coordinate with local finance teams and support cost recharges and allocations.
• Assist external auditors, ensure audit readiness and compliance with internal controls.
• Identify and contribute to process‑improvement and automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 6‑8 years of general accounting experience, preferably in a multinational or shared services environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and month‑end closing processes.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• IFRS accounting standards.
• Experience with ERP systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics 365 and/or Tagetik.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
