Financial Director

About the role

The Financial Director will lead the subsidiary’s finance function in Portugal, ensuring compliance with local regulations, IFRS, and Group policies while supporting strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and improve the subsidiary’s financial management and control system in line with Portuguese regulations, IFRS and Group policies.
• Optimize organisational structure, build the finance team and implement risk‑prevention mechanisms.
• Oversee accounting, preparation and submission of financial statements and manage the financial closing process.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and provide financial analysis to support management decisions.
• Manage treasury and tax affairs, optimise fund allocation, mitigate financial risks and ensure compliant tax filing and cross‑border fund flows.
• Organise annual budgeting, monitor implementation, control costs, analyse variances and drive profitability.
• Participate in major operational decisions and investment project evaluations, coordinating with relevant parties.
• Execute other finance‑related tasks assigned by the Group and subsidiary management.

Required profile

• Familiarity with European business culture, regulations and ability to work long‑term in Portugal.
• 8+ years of financial experience, including prior roles as Financial Director/Manager in Europe (especially Portugal).
• Experience in a Big Four European accounting firm is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting or related fields; CPA or ACCA certification is a plus.
• Fluent in Chinese and English; Portuguese fluency is a plus.
• Strong resilience under pressure and ability to adapt to an overseas work pace.

Required skills

• Proficiency in IFRS and Portuguese fiscal, tax and foreign‑exchange regulations.
• Extensive experience in tax planning, treasury management and internal‑control development.
• Skilled in using financial and office software.
