Financial Controller – 5‑Month Contract (Portugal)

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller on a 5‑month contract to lead management controlling activities for our local holding companies and service operations in Portugal, with limited support for Spain. The role reports to the Finance Manager and requires autonomy, rigor, and strong stakeholder interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial monitoring of three local operating holding companies and their service activities, producing monthly reports and analysing performance against budgets, forecasts and historical data.
• Identify variances, investigate anomalies and recommend corrective actions while continuously improving KPIs, reporting processes and management tools.
• Monitor external expenditures for development projects, ensure correct cost allocation, verify compliance with annual and multi‑year budgets, and produce regular project cost reports.
• Prepare analytical narratives that explain business performance, support operational teams in understanding results, and coordinate with accounting, tax and other internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with project development teams, maintenance and operations teams, finance asset controllers, corporate finance, tax, shared services and external accounting partners.

Required profile

• Approximately 8 years of experience in management controlling, financial controlling or corporate finance.
• Proven analytical management‑controlling expertise; background in accounting is acceptable if followed by substantial controlling experience.
• Ability to work quickly, autonomously and adapt processes in a transforming, non‑standardised environment.
