Finance & Accounting Manager

About the role

Socomec is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager for its Portugal subsidiary. The role is pivotal in safeguarding financial integrity, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic decision‑making while driving operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise accounting, finance, treasury and administrative functions.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual closings in line with Group and local standards.
• Prepare and present management reporting packages, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and variance analysis.
• Drive the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasts.
• Oversee cash‑flow management, liquidity planning and banking relationships.
• Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies, internal controls and Portuguese statutory requirements.
• Coordinate audits, liaise with auditors, tax advisors, banks and legal partners.
• Supervise payroll processing, employee benefits and expense reimbursements.
• Support HR administrative tasks such as onboarding and off‑boarding.
• Conduct credit risk assessments, monitor receivables and manage collections.
• Lead, coach and develop one direct report.
• Implement continuous‑improvement initiatives for financial processes and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury and cash‑flow management.
• Experience working with auditors, banks, tax advisors and external service providers.
• Good understanding of Portuguese accounting, tax and statutory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Office suite.
