Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant reports to the EIMEA Record to Report Team Leader and is responsible for preparing financial and statutory statements for two entities in Italy, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, statutory accounting principles and tax guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial reports in line with US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
• Ensure timely filing of statutory annual accounts, tax returns and other regulatory filings with local tax advisors.
• Execute all Record‑to‑Report journal entries, Blackline account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
• Perform internal controls in accordance with SOX requirements and support external and internal audit requests.
• Conduct balance‑sheet and profit‑and‑loss variance analysis and provide early warnings of unusual trends.
• Review and improve finance processes, documentation and internal controls to enhance accuracy and standardisation.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 3‑5 years of relevant experience in a multinational environment or shared service centre.
• Fluent written and spoken English; Italian is a plus.
• Strong analytical abilities and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of US GAAP and local GAAP.
• Proficiency with SAP (or another ERP system).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with Blackline account reconciliation tool.
• Understanding of SOX internal control requirements.
