Equipment Mechanic – Shop

About the role

Altec is seeking experienced Equipment Mechanics to work in its shop environment, supporting a network of 45+ service centers and mobile technicians across the US and Canada. The role involves repairing, maintaining, and inspecting a wide range of heavy equipment, from aerial devices to military vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Replace electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components on various heavy equipment.
• Use technical resources (manuals, HowFactory, parts catalogs) to troubleshoot and determine repair procedures.
• Perform unit condition inspections and generate detailed reports.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in line with Altec safety standards.
• Communicate with supervisors about issues that could affect customer relationships.
• Complete required documentation accurately and uphold Altec company values.

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Prior experience as a mechanic or technician on heavy equipment such as aerial devices, digger derricks, chippers, cranes, excavators, skid steers, dozers, tractors, MRAPs, tanks, or ground support equipment.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
• Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
