Environmental Health Services Technician – Maintenance

About the role

The Environmental Health Services Technician ensures a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the facility. Working under FMCNA’s compliance program, the technician follows strict cleaning protocols and supports the overall physical plant maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of patient areas, bathrooms, kitchens, waiting rooms, treatment spaces, and selected exterior zones.
• Respond promptly to spills, leaks, and other immediate cleaning needs.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment such as televisions, computers, HVAC units, vents, and furniture.
• Manage waste disposal, including regular, bio‑hazard, and recyclable materials, in accordance with facility policies.
• Document, label, and dilute disinfectants; handle dialysis preparation areas when required.
• Monitor and restock hygiene supplies (soap, sanitizer, paper products) and report inventory needs.
• Identify and report maintenance issues like clogged drains or faulty fixtures.
• Perform basic plant repairs (painting, bulb replacement, lock changes) and assist staff with moving equipment.
• Initiate the reverse‑osmosis (RO) machine and conduct initial water‑quality testing.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently while adhering to strict safety and hygiene standards.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for supply management.
• Physical capability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects and perform manual cleaning tasks.
