English Teacher

About the role

Colegio Integrado Monte Maior is seeking qualified English teachers to deliver high‑quality language instruction to primary (Years 1‑4) and/or secondary students. The role focuses on developing students' linguistic competence while fostering an appreciation for English language and culture through student‑centred, active learning methods.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver English lessons aligned with the Portuguese National Curriculum and the school’s educational philosophy.
• Design differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
• Promote active English communication through engaging, student‑centred activities.
• Continuously assess student progress, keep accurate records and monitor academic development.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment.
• Maintain constructive communication with families when appropriate.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school projects and events.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the school community to support student success.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English Language Teaching, Languages, Education or a related field.
• Qualified Teacher Status in Portugal or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Previous experience teaching English (primary and/or secondary) is highly desirable.
• Experience with innovative teaching methodologies is a strong asset.

Required skills

• Excellent command of English (C2 level or equivalent).
• Intermediate or higher proficiency in Portuguese.
• Strong knowledge of English language teaching methodologies.
• Competence in lesson planning, assessment and differentiated instruction.
• Proficiency in using digital technologies within an educational environment.
