Engineering Manager

About the role

Olisipo is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a software engineering team in Portugal. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering collaboration, and ensuring high‑quality, predictable delivery of software products.

Key responsibilities

• Own delivery execution and align it with the technology roadmap.
• Drive sustainable, predictable, and high‑quality software delivery.
• Act as line manager for engineers, providing coaching, feedback, staffing, and performance management.
• Introduce engineering best practices and set technical direction for the team.
• Promote software quality, maintainability, testability, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and business stakeholders to align delivery with business priorities.
• Serve as the technical counterpart to the Product Owner within the team.
• Support technology‑strategy implementation, standardisation, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuously improving engineering culture.
• Participate actively in day‑to‑day Agile product‑team activities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, QA Engineering, or a similar technical role.
• Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing engineering teams.
• Strong background combining people management with technical leadership.
• Experience driving software delivery and engineering excellence.
• Deep understanding of software quality, maintainability, testability, and operational excellence.
• Experience working closely with Product Owners, Agile Leads, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to translate business priorities into realistic and sustainable delivery plans.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.
