Engineering Lead

About the role

Rain is the world’s first AI Financial Health Platform, serving millions of employees at leading organisations. We are seeking a remote Tech Lead to head a multidisciplinary squad of backend, frontend and QA engineers, owning the core systems that power transaction, balance and financial‑movement data across our platform.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product requirements into robust technical solutions and lead engineering efforts to meet ambitious targets.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team, driving productivity, technical refinements and architectural decisions.
• Design, implement and maintain highly available micro‑services, RESTful APIs and integrations with third‑party vendors.
• Build reusable libraries and enforce observability best practices using logging, metrics and alerting.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for architectures, APIs and system configurations.
• Continuously monitor system performance and scalability, and coordinate cross‑team priorities throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Proven ability to design large‑scale distributed systems and take ownership from concept to production.
• Strong cross‑functional communication skills and experience collaborating with product and engineering partners.
• Familiarity with complex, high‑throughput financial applications and a “you build it, you run it” mindset.

Required skills

• Expert‑level proficiency in Go (Golang) and/or Python.
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including transaction isolation, locking and schema migrations at scale.
• Extensive experience with Kafka for resilient asynchronous workflows.
• Advanced knowledge of AWS services (ECS, EKS, RDS) and container orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
