Engineer Level 1 – Handyman

About the role

The Engineer Level 1 ensures the property is maintained in optimal condition with minimal inconvenience to guests and staff. This hands‑on role covers a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks across the hotel.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, and other equipment.
• Handle plumbing work such as unclogging drains, repairing copper pipes, and replacing fittings.
• Maintain and program electronic lock systems, televisions, and other hotel electronics.
• Repair furniture, light fixtures, pumps, and perform sheet‑rock and wall‑covering work.
• Test, clean and maintain swimming pools and spas, and paint designated areas.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year of progressive hotel or related experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams and follow local, state and federal codes.
• Physical ability to lift/exert up to 100 lb occasionally and 50 lb frequently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with guests and staff.

• HVAC maintenance (filter changes, coil cleaning, motor replacement).
• Plumbing repair (drain clearing, pipe work, faucet replacement).
• Electrical work (light switches, receptacles, fixture replacement).
• Blueprint and wiring diagram interpretation.
• Electronic lock programming and television setup.
• Pool and spa cleaning and maintenance.
