Director of Self-Serve

About the role

Paddle is looking for a Director of Self‑Serve to own and scale the self‑serve motion that already contributes a significant portion of revenue. This senior leader will be responsible for the full commercial outcome—from acquisition through adoption, revenue, and net retention—while shaping the product experience and cross‑functional strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end commercial performance of the self‑serve channel, including unit economics, revenue, and net retention.
• Define and execute a clear growth strategy, aligning finance, product, and engineering on value‑creating initiatives.
• Improve activation and time‑to‑value by redesigning onboarding, lifecycle nurturing, and in‑product experiences.
• Identify the optimal customer profile, collaborate with demand generation, and co‑own a unified funnel.
• Coordinate cross‑functional work streams, influence product, engineering, and risk roadmaps, and run regular business cadences.
• Deepen partner integrations, turning distribution relationships into revenue‑generating channels.
• Build and run the self‑serve engine hands‑on, working closely with a small, focused team.

Required profile

• Proven senior commercial leadership experience in a fast‑moving SaaS or digital payments environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on unit economics and revenue metrics.
• Demonstrated ability to set strategy and execute across finance, product, engineering, and go‑to‑market teams.
• Hands‑on builder who can develop and iterate the self‑serve engine directly.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication and influence skills.
