Director of Operations

About the role

The Director of Operations will lead all non‑academic functions of the Yael Schools Network as it moves from pre‑opening to full operation, ensuring that operational systems support the International Baccalaureate framework and the network’s Jewish ethos.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all non‑academic operations from pre‑opening through full operation, ensuring alignment with Yael Schools Network policies and the International Baccalaureate ethos.
• Develop multi‑year strategic plans, define milestones, KPIs and budgeting frameworks, and monitor operational performance.
• Oversee financial functions including budgeting, cash‑flow management, tuition modelling, enrollment projections and procurement, supervising the Finance Manager.
• Manage human‑resources activities for non‑teaching staff, supervise the local HR Manager, and ensure compliance with Portuguese labour law.
• Direct facilities, security, safety, transportation, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, AV systems and food‑service logistics.
• Lead construction and building development, coordinating architects, engineers, contractors and local authorities to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Ensure legal, compliance and risk‑management standards are met in accordance with Portuguese regulations and network guidelines.

Required profile

• Senior leader responsible for all non‑academic operational functions of a pre‑establishment international school network.
• Experience managing finance, HR, facilities, IT and construction in an educational or similar multi‑site environment.
• Ability to implement network policies, strategic guidelines and quality expectations.
• Familiarity with Portuguese legal and regulatory requirements.
