Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to support and review piping design projects for ALTEN Portugal. The role focuses on creating and reviewing technical drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and 3‑D models of piping systems and supports.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed isometric drawings for piping systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Interpret and validate technical and assembly drawings, identifying components, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Design and analyze Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to ensure clear process flows and equipment integration.
• Create 3‑D models of piping systems and structural supports using Autodesk Inventor and Plant 3D, optimizing routing and detecting clashes.
• Generate comprehensive pipe plant layouts, including equipment placement, piping networks, and utility systems.
• Define technical specifications for materials and construction methods, adhering to pharmaceutical/GMP standards and safety regulations.
• Compile Material Take‑Off (MTO) and Bill of Materials (BOM) using Inventor and Plant 3D databases, ensuring consistency across equipment and piping data.
• Maintain and update Plant 3D databases, synchronising material lists between Inventor and Plant 3D to streamline procurement.

Required profile

• Experienced Design Engineer with a background in piping design and review.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical or GMP‑related projects is a plus.
