Data Scientist – San Juan

About the role

Optum is seeking a Data Scientist to join its San Juan team and help improve health outcomes through data‑driven insights. You will work on end‑to‑end machine‑learning pipelines, from hypothesis formulation to model deployment, supporting global health optimization initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate model hypotheses and conduct exploratory data analysis.
• Engineer features, build, train, and test predictive models using scikit‑learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Ensure AI and MLRB governance compliance and obtain necessary approvals.
• Deploy models, make scores available for production campaigns, and monitor model drift.
• Translate complex model results into actionable business insights and stakeholder narratives.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist.
• Strong background in data mining, statistical modeling, and machine‑learning techniques.
• Fluent in both Spanish and English.
