Data Center CoE Sr. Field Service Technician

About the role

ABB is seeking a senior field service technician to lead start‑up, commissioning and post‑start‑up services for data‑center projects across the United States. The position is remote‑based but requires extensive nationwide travel to customer sites, where you will act as ABB’s primary representative and deliver high‑quality service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on‑site customer engagement, ensuring clear communication and professional representation.
• Plan and execute service tasks with urgency, adhering to quality standards and first‑time‑right execution.
• Evaluate installed equipment and customer processes to identify performance improvements.
• Capture and relay upgrade, service and modernization opportunities to internal account teams.
• Prepare job sites, coordinate subcontractors and support project teams.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using certified tools and methods.
• Prepare material lists and verify availability of parts and tools.
• Recommend and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives for processes, products and service delivery.
• Produce accurate technical reports, test records and customer‑signed documentation.
• Provide technical consulting, mentorship and training to colleagues and customers.
• Execute work in Power Delivery, Medium & Low Voltage Electrification and Control Systems.
• Uphold ABB’s safety and compliance standards at all times.

Required profile

• Senior‑level field service experience in power delivery or data‑center electrification.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the United States.
• Strong customer‑facing skills and ability to act as the primary ABB representative on site.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
