Contabilista – Accounting Specialist

About the role

SJPR Portugal is seeking a Contabilista to manage day‑to‑day accounting activities for its clients in Lisbon. The professional will ensure accurate recording of transactions, prepare financial statements and support tax compliance in line with Portuguese regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Record daily financial transactions and maintain the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank and subsidiary accounts on a regular basis.
• Prepare periodic management reports and full‑year financial statements.
• Support the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with Portuguese fiscal rules.
• Interact with tax authorities and respond to client inquiries.
• Provide financial insights and advisory support to improve business performance.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and clients to deliver accurate financial information.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Portuguese fiscal regulations.
• Experience with tax compliance and preparation of tax returns.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional certification as a Contabilista (e.g., OCC registration) is mandatory.
• Previous experience in an accounting firm or corporate finance environment in Portugal.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management and communication skills.
• Ability to work on‑site in Lisbon and maintain a client‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel for data entry, reconciliation and basic financial analysis.
