Construction Site Safety Manager/Trainer (SSHO)

About the role

RQC, LLC is seeking an experienced Construction Site Safety Manager/Trainer (SSHO) to lead safety efforts on military construction projects in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The role serves as the onsite safety leader, ensuring compliance with federal, NAVFAC, USACE, DoD, and OSHA standards while fostering a safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce the project safety program on a daily basis.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
• Provide safety training and toolbox talks to field personnel, subcontractors, and supervisors.
• Maintain documentation of safety training, certifications, and compliance records.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and client representatives to address safety concerns.
• Monitor and enforce fall protection, excavation/trenching, confined space, electrical, scaffolding, and PPE requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of commercial construction experience.
• At least 5 years of on‑site construction safety experience.
• Experience with NAVFAC, USACE, DoD, or other federal construction projects preferred.
• Current OSHA 30‑Hour certification (within the last 5 years).
• CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of EM 385‑1‑1 and OSHA regulations.
• Competent Person training in fall protection, excavation/trenching, confined spaces, electrical safety, scaffolding, and PPE.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with safety management software such as RMS, QCS, or Viewpoint.
