Cloud Firewall Test Engineer (Automation – Playwright/Python)

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Cloud Firewall Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and security of its cloud‑delivered firewall platform built on microservices. The role focuses on designing and executing automated UI, API, integration, and system tests, primarily using Playwright with Python, while leveraging AI‑assisted testing tools to accelerate development.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated end‑to‑end and API test suites with Playwright and Python.
• Validate firewall capabilities such as policy management, rule behavior, logging, authentication flows, control‑plane workflows, and upgrades.
• Build layered test coverage across microservices, combining service‑level API tests with critical user journeys.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines, enabling parallel execution, reporting, and failure artifact collection.
• Collaborate with engineers and product owners to review stories, improve testability, and define quality gates.
• Troubleshoot complex failures using logs, metrics, and traces, conduct root‑cause analysis, and prevent regressions.
• Utilize AI‑based tools to generate starter code, refactor tests, summarize failures, and create test data while maintaining high quality.
• Contribute to test infrastructure improvements, including environments, test data management, mocks, stubs, and framework utilities.

Required profile

• 6–8 years of experience in QA/Test Engineering, SDET, or Software Engineering with a strong testing focus.
• Strong hands‑on Python skills for automation beyond simple scripting.
• Proven experience with Playwright for UI automation, using maintainable patterns such as page objects and fixtures.
