Civil Estimator

About the role

The Estimator combines drafting and blueprint reading skills to produce accurate takeoffs and cost estimates for civil, architectural, and structural components. Working under the Chief Estimator and Preconstruction Director, you will ensure bids meet milestones and deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed estimates and proposals, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs using Onscreen Takeoff, Excel, and Sage Estimating.
• Request and evaluate material and labor pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Compare quotes against project documents, suggest cost‑saving alternatives, and identify gaps or discrepancies.

Required profile

• Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (associate degree with experience considered).
• Minimum three years of experience in construction estimating and quantity takeoffs for commercial, institutional, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, labor productivity, and delivery methods (Design‑Bid‑Build, Design‑Build, GMP, Lump Sum).
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software: Building Connected, On‑Screen Takeoff (OST), Planswift, Sage Estimating.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and civil drawings and specifications.
