Category Specialist – Corporate Procurement

About the role

ABB is looking for a Category Specialist to support its Corporate Procurement function for primary Professional Services, HR Services and Marketing. The role will operate remotely or in a hybrid model across Europe, collaborating with internal stakeholders and global suppliers to drive cost‑effective and sustainable sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the procurement strategy in alignment with category teams and business stakeholders.
• Perform purchasing activities according to specifications, price, delivery schedule and contractual terms.
• Manage relationships with a portfolio of approved suppliers, ensuring performance, quality and compliance.
• Provide market insights, analyse bids and negotiate agreements with key suppliers.
• Conduct sourcing events using eSourcing tools and maintain accurate supplier master data.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers to support innovation and competitiveness.
• Initiate cost‑out programs and optimisation initiatives to meet financial targets.
• Coordinate procurement orders, deliveries and maintain documentation in relevant systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in indirect services procurement, preferably within Professional Services, HR, Legal or Marketing categories.
• Strong negotiation skills and an analytical, solution‑oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities, capable of representing Corporate Procurement at senior levels.
• Team player who can also work independently.
• Comfortable handling legal and contractual terms.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
