Business Risk Officer – Hybrid (San Juan)

About the role

The Business Risk Officer supports the Retail & Business Solutions Group by identifying, assessing and managing operational, compliance, reputational and strategic risks. Working in a hybrid setting, you will collaborate with first‑line owners, control partners and second‑line reviewers to ensure robust risk governance.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively identify and assess operational, regulatory and control issues across business units.
• Conduct root‑cause analyses, develop remediation plans and track corrective‑action implementation.
• Maintain issue‑lifecycle governance, validate closure packages and ensure sustainable resolutions.
• Support complaint and claim investigations, including coordination with regulatory agencies such as CFPB, FRB and OCIF.
• Assist internal audit, external exam and second‑line review teams, monitor recommendations and drive timely remediation.
• Provide first‑line training on risk and control topics.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with experience in risk identification and assessment.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local regulatory requirements relevant to financial services.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with business owners, control partners and audit teams.
• Excellent written communication for drafting responses and documentation.
