Business Development Manager

About the role

Altar.io is looking for a Business Development Manager who enjoys early‑stage conversations with founders and product leaders. This role is not about high‑volume outreach; it focuses on thoughtful, research‑led engagement that shapes product direction and qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and research companies and decision‑makers that match the Ideal Customer Profile.
• Reach out via LinkedIn, email, and referrals with tailored, relevant messaging.
• Start conversations to understand business problems, initiative triggers, development stage, and decision constraints.
• Qualify opportunities based on strategic fit rather than mere interest.
• Decide whether to progress, nurture, or step away from each opportunity.
• Lead initial calls when appropriate and prepare clear internal briefs for senior leadership.
• Provide senior team members with well‑structured context, key unknowns, potential risks, and recommended next steps.

Required profile

• Strong curiosity about how businesses and products work.
• Excellent written communication and ability to ask thoughtful questions.
• Comfort with incomplete information and ability to challenge assumptions.
• Experience in consultative B2B environments (product studios, consultancies, agencies, or tech companies) is a plus.
