Behavioral Health Associate 1 – Mental Health Assistant (Rotating Shifts)

About the role

The Behavioral Health Associate provides personal care services to patients in a behavioral health facility, working under the direction of clinical or nursing leadership. The role focuses on ensuring patient safety, delivering supportive care, and fostering a structured environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, meals, hydration, and linen changes.
• Conduct safety checks and supervise patients at required intervals, documenting observations in the medical record.
• Observe patient behavior, report significant observations to nursing staff, and respond to complaints promptly.
• Facilitate educational and rehabilitative groups covering social skills, coping strategies, anger management, and independent living.
• Engage patients in activities designed to achieve treatment goals and coordinate transportation as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of experience working with the facility’s specific patient population (preferred).
• CPR, de‑escalation and restraint certification (training provided).
• First aid certification may be required based on state or facility regulations.
