Backend Software Engineer (Remote, Portugal)

About the role

Dragonboat is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to join its Portugal team. You will help build and evolve the core platform that powers portfolio intelligence for thousands of initiatives, using AI‑enhanced features. The role offers direct impact on a product used daily by customers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve the data model, APIs and services that form the foundation of the platform.
• Design and implement backend systems for data aggregation, scoring and large‑scale analysis.
• Develop and maintain integrations with customers’ existing tools.
• Make architectural decisions that scale as the product grows.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and fellow engineers to turn problems into solutions quickly.
• Leverage AI‑driven coding tools as a standard part of the development workflow.

Required profile

• 4+ years of backend engineering experience with a strong opinion on building lasting systems.
• Proven ability to own a problem from design through production.
• Experience working on data‑heavy systems, including modeling, querying and performance optimization.
• Comfortable using AI tools in daily development and can articulate best practices.
• Clear communicator who can give honest feedback and works with minimal supervision.
