Backend Engineer – After Sales & Ownership

About the role

Join the Aftersales & Ownership tribe at Mercedes‑Benz.io to design, build and maintain microservice‑based backend applications that power the entire vehicle ownership journey. You will work with Kotlin and Spring Boot, collaborating closely with product owners and other engineering teams to deliver high‑impact digital experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Kotlin‑based microservices using Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional product teams and other engineering groups on backend topics.
• Apply DevOps practices across the full software lifecycle – development, testing, deployment and operation.
• Analyse technical and business challenges and propose scalable, pragmatic solutions.
• Contribute to software and system architecture design and create technical specifications.
• Improve test coverage, code quality, reliability and security.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Professional experience with Kotlin or Java and strong knowledge of Spring Boot.
• Hands‑on experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and a cloud environment (any provider).
• Proficiency with Git and build tools like Maven or Gradle.
• Ability to design and consume RESTful APIs.
• Fluent English and comfortable working in a collaborative, cross‑functional team.
