Automation Engineer – Advanced Manufacturing

About the role

As an Automation Engineer you will join Bosch Car Multimedia’s production team in Braga, developing cutting‑edge automation solutions for automotive assembly lines. You will work on projects that enhance efficiency, safety and ergonomics while supporting the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement advanced automation concepts for assembly processes.
• Integrate collaborative robots (cobots) to automate manual operations and ensure safe work‑flows.
• Develop software for new machines and production lines, guaranteeing seamless integration and high performance.
• Coordinate with suppliers during machine development and construction to maintain technical alignment and quality.
• Monitor project milestones, ensuring equipment is ready for production launch.
• Participate in the setup, commissioning and ramp‑up of new production lines locally and internationally.
• Introduce and industrialise new automation technologies within the plant.
• Conduct testing and validation activities according to defined plans.
• Identify technological improvements that reduce cost and increase system efficiency.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for automation equipment and processes.
• Install new equipment, develop automation programs and perform capability analyses.
• Support production teams with troubleshooting and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or a comparable technical field.
• Proven experience in programming and commissioning industrial machines.
• Knowledge of robotics integration and collaborative robot applications.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and external suppliers.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
